State Wildlife Action Plan

State Wildlife Action Plans (SWAPs) are congressionally-mandated strategic plans to help conserve Species of Greatest Conservation Need and their habitats.

SWAPs identify at-risk species, the threats they face, and conservation actions needed. They're crucial for prioritizing conservation efforts and securing funding through programs such as State Wildlife Grants.

As part of the 2025 update process, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is currently conducting a comprehensive review of Texas' State Wildlife Action Plan.

They're inviting your feedback to improve how they present the Plan. With your input, they can help ensure the SWAP meets the needs of those who want to help conserve Texas's natural heritage.
